Welcome to the Intergovernmental Relations (IGR) Branch of the Los Angeles County Chief Executive Office. IGR consists of State and Federal Legislative Policy Development and Governmental Affairs; the Sacramento Advocacy Office; the Washington, D.C. Advocacy Office; the Public Affairs Office; the Office of Protocol; and the Cable and Telecommunications Office.
IGR is the focal point of coordination of state and federal legislative policy and strategy for the County. In consultation with the Board of Supervisors, the legislative strategist, and County departments, IGR develops the County's legislative priorities and policies for consideration by the Board, and analyzes legislative proposals. The County's advocacy is handled on a day-to-day basis by the Sacramento and Washington, D.C. offices.
The Public Affairs Office is the chief liaison for the County to the public and media. It prepares and disseminates informational materials about the County, oversees the County website, and provides information and referral services. It also provides centralized photo and graphic arts services to departments, and assists the Board with special projects.
The Office of Protocol ensures that appropriate protocol is observed when foreign dignitaries visit Los Angeles County; maintains a liaison with the Los Angeles Consular Corps; promotes international business, tourism and cultural exchanges throughout Los Angeles County; and increases international understanding and cultural awareness.
The Cable and Telecommunications Office monitors cable television companies operating in the unincorporated areas of Los Angeles County, investigates subscriber complaints on issues ranging from quality of service to billing errors, provides referrals to consumers living outside County service areas; oversees the broadcast of Board of Supervisors meetings and development of a County television cable channel.
