Starting on January 2nd, 2009, we have made three major changes to greatly improve the quality and effectiveness of our pre-placement services:
--- Pre-Placement Medical examinations are no longer required for administrative classifications that are characterized by all of the following:
a) A physical class rating of 2,
b) Driving on County time less than four hours per week on average,
c) Do not require drug testing,
d) Do not have peace officer status,
e) Do not perform public safety dispatch, and
f) Do not use respiratory protective equipment.

--- The number of clinics performing placement medical examinations has been reduced from five to three (Samaritan Health Center, Community Hospital of Long Beach, and Westchester Medical Group).
