Starting on January 10th, 2006, we hope to greatly improve the quality and cost-effectiveness of our employee medical services by implementing the following major changes:
--- We have a new set of Employee Medical Contractors who were selected based on a highly competitive process.
--- Ordering employee exams has been simplified. Instead of ordering exams by components (e.g., "an Abbreviated Medical with an x-ray and blood panel"), departmental representatives will now order medical exams by the name(s) of the medical exam(s) needed (e.g., Asbestos and Hearing Conservation). The contractor will then complete the appropriate testing components as determined by OHP's Medical Director.
--- The medical testing protocols for each of the employee medical exams have been updated to more closely reflect current medical and legal requirements.
--- Medical examinations of little or no benefit have been eliminated. These include the former "Paint & Solvent," and "PCP" medical testing programs.
--- Guidelines for "who should be tested," and "how often" have been updated.
