Medical Results For Employee Examinations
Employees will be assigned one of three following medical status designations by our contract physicians. The contractor is responsible for communicating these results directly to the department:
1) No Restrictions: This indicates that no restrictions are indicated within the narrow scope of duties related to the medical examination(s) for which the employee was sent. For example, if an employee is sent in for an Asbestos Examination, and the contractor reports "No Restrictions," this means that the employee can continue to work with asbestos without restrictions. However, this does not mean that any other pre-existing restrictions related to other job duties have been removed. For example, the same employee may have had a restriction of "No Heavy Lifting" prior to his/her Asbestos exam. This restriction would remain in affect after the Asbestos exam.
2) Restricted: The contractors are authorized to place restrictions in limited situations based on our medical guidelines. However, they are not authorized to remove them. This can only be done by OHP staff. If the restriction is of a temporary nature, OHP staff will contact the employee with further instructions.
3) OHP Review: This status designation indicates that contract physician has deferred the employee's work fitness determination to our staff. The employee may remain on full duty until our physicians have reviewed the employee's medical file. When our review is complete, our staff will issue a clearance or restrictions to the employing department.
