Returning Retirees & Reinstatements Former employees may return to County service without having to take a civil service exam under two circumstances. The first allows a retiree to be rehired for up to 120 days per year to perform jobs which require special skills and knowledge. The second mechanism allows a former County employee to seek reinstatement to a full-time position as long as his/her separation from County service was within the last two years. Starting in 2006, some of these returning employees will no longer be required to have a medical examination. The following will be exempt:
For returning employees not included in these two categories, the examination will consist of a medical history review by an OHP staff member with additional testing, if any, to be subsequently determined on a case-by-case basis. To request this examination, the Department needs to fax or email OHP a memo with the following information: -- Returning employee's name -- Date of separation -- Previous classification title -- New classification title -- Anticipated duties -- Any known restrictions -- Current address -- Current phone number. OHP staff will contact the returning employee and obtain the necessary medical information. |
