Special Events Liability Insurance Program (SELIP)

Parties who use County facilities for classes, street fairs, exhibitions, weddings and a variety of other events are required to provide general liability insurance covering the activity. Event Sponsors who do not customarily maintain liability insurance may be eligible to purchase this insurance through SELIP. SELIP insurance protects both the Event Sponsor and the County for liability (injury or property damage) which could result from the activities of the Event Sponsor. Event Sponsors interested in purchasing SELIP coverage must contact Municipality Insurance Services, Inc. (Municipality) directly to obtain premium quotes, pay premiums and receive certificates of insurance. Sponsors can call Municipality toll free at (800) 420-0555 or can access their website at http://www.2sparta.com/. The insurance application is available on Municipality’s website under the heading “PROMPT COVER.”

Cost of the SELIP insurance premium for each event is based on the classification of the event (example: antique show, wedding reception) and the number of attendees at the event. For additional information about County policies on special events or concerning this insurance program, contact: Debra Sartori at (213) 351-5364, Larry Shiroma at (213) 351-6436, or Ann Rain at (213) 738-2199.
