The Service Integration Branch – Homeless Services Unit (HSU) is responsible for advising the Board of Supervisors on all homeless related policy, planning and programmatic issues that impact the County. This includes facilitating all interdepartmental workgroups that focus on homeless activities such as the Special Needs Housing Alliance, the Project Review Committee, the Homeless Deputies meeting, etc. The HSU ensures that the Chief Executive Officer, the Board and the County departmental representatives have a current and strong understanding of federal, state and local strategies, activities and policy implications that effect how homeless housing and services are planned and delivered.
In addition, the HSU is responsible for oversight of all Homeless Prevention Initiative (HPI) funding and outcomes. This includes ongoing Homeless Services Funding and ongoing homeless programs that are directly managed by HSU, Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority, Community Development Commission and various County departments.
