Our
mission is to support Board of Supervisors Countywide projects
and to promote a family-friendly work environment that enhances
employee productivity, workplace saving options, workplace
giving options, rideshare options and volunteer opportunities
through effective and caring program management and creative
image enhancement strategies.
Programs
and Special Projects:
- Air
Quality - Rideshare Program
Management of the County Board's Air Quality-Rideshare Program
as mandated by County Ordinance 90-0033U, in compliance
with SCAQMD Rule 2202, Employee Commute Program. Conduct
annual rideshare surveys and prepare 65 regulated worksite
rideshare plans or reports annually in partnership with
a departmental Rideshare Coordinator Network.
- L.A.
Commuter Service Center
Management of the County's L.A. Commuter Service Center,
which provides on-site rideshare services to Civic Center
employees and the public. Located on the second floor of
the Kenneth Hahn Hall of Administration, this center is
staffed from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and also hosts self-service
features promoting on-going rideshare information.
- Telecommuting
and Telework
Telecommuting is a management option. With department approval,
employees can work from home on an approved schedule by
signing a telecommuting agreement and attending a training
session. Telecommuters eliminate more than 74 tons of air
pollutants and 167,670 travel-time hours annually. Contact

- U.S.
Savings Bonds Program
Management of the County's Savings Bond Program in partnership
with the Auditor-Controller's Office and the County's departmental
Savings Bonds Program Coordinator Network. More than $17
million in Series EE and I Bonds are purchased annually
through payroll deduction and one-time investment/gifts
purchases.
Management
of the County's monthly payroll deduction process (10,000
employees) and monthly transfer of payroll data to U.S.
Treasury for issuance of bonds and handling of "returned
bonds."
- County
Charitable Giving Program
Management of the County's Charitable Giving Program in
partnership with the Auditor-Controller, five non-profit
fund distribution agencies, a departmental coordinator network
and the Labor-Management Advisory Committee.
Management
of the County's monthly payroll deduction process (8,000
employees) and campaign fund-raisers, raised more than
$1.6 million in 2002. Annual campaigns for March of Dimes
Walk America, $336,000 and AIDS LA Walk, $25,000 bring
the total to more than $2 million.
- County
Volunteer Program
Management of the County's volunteer program, in partnership
with departmental volunteer program Directors Network includes
implementation of County volunteer program policies and
procedures, insurance coverage, volunteer protocols, reporting
requirements and annual recognition. More than 3.8 million
hours were donated to County programs in 2002, valued at
$61.5 million.
- Labor-Management
Advisory Committee
Support for the County's Labor-Management Advisory Committee,
including agenda preparation, minutes, special projects
and reports. Members include department heads, Coalition
of County Unions and SEIU Local 660.

Marketplace
Design and management of County merchandise, fund-raising
merchandise and website marketing. Support and promote campaigns
for AirQuality/Rideshare, Savings Bonds, Charitable Giving,
Volunteer, March of Dimes and special Board projects.
- County
(CEO) Workplace Connection Newsletter (Bi-Monthly)
Write, design and publish the Workplace Connection, a six-page
Countywide newsletter featuring air quality-rideshare articles,
workplace programs, employee networks, charitable giving
campaigns and special projects.
- Special
County Award Projects
Coordinate annual Countywide awards nomination process for
NACo awards and CSAC Challenge Awards.
- County
Quality & Productivity Managers Network
Support the Quality and Productivity Commission and Productivity
Managers Network, in a leadership and mentorship role on
Productivity Managers Network training and development projects,
PQA award program activity and committees.
- Employee
Suggestion Appeals Review Committee (ESARC)
The division chief represents the Chief Executive Office
as an ESARC member reviewing employee appeals on employee
suggestion award issues related to monetary awards, policy
or departmental action taken.
- Special
Board Projects
Countywide coordination of the Cesar Chavez Community Service
Week Program, annually held in late March. This program
features community service projects at local non-profit
agencies and on-site food drives.
