The mission of Workplace Programs is to promote a family-friendly work environment that enhances employee productivity, workplace savings and giving options, rideshare choices, and volunteer opportunities through effective and caring services and programs.
Since the founding of this great nation, volunteers have strengthened communities by serving the needs of others, building bonds of trust among people and enhancing the future for our children. In the County of Los Angeles, more than 2.2 million hours were donated in 2011 to provide new or enhanced services at County hospitals, libraries, parks, social service centers, fire stations, sheriff stations, museums and County offices. This generous donation of time and talent is valued at more than $47 million in additional services to the people of Los Angeles County.
Annual Volunteer Recognition Week - April/May
In tribute to the thousands of caring volunteers who daily enrich the lives of others, the County Board of Supervisors, in partnership with local, state and national leaders, declared April 21 through April 27, 2013 as "County of Los Angeles Volunteer Recognition Week." It has been through the caring spirit exemplified by American volunteers that a culture of responsibility, service to others, and a tradition of neighbor helping neighbor has been nurtured.
