Celebrating Black History Month

On February 4, 2025, the LA County Board of Supervisors passed a motion proclaiming the month of February as Black History Month in Los Angeles County and encouraging all residents to celebrate the history, legacy, and contributions made by African Americans, and to continue the pursuit of equality and justice for all.

Throughout the month of February, various events and celebrations are taking place across LA County. We encourage you to make a plan to participate in the activities taking place throughout the County including a few of the highlighted events below.

Los Angeles County Department of Parks and Recreation Celebrates Black History Month

Celebrate Black History Month with LA County Parks and honor the achievements, contributions, and resilience of Black Americans. Enjoy workshops, art exhibits, music, storytelling, and community activities that showcase the richness of Black culture and heritage. Let’s come together to celebrate history, culture, and community!

LA County Wildfire Recovery

For the latest information regarding wildfire recovery, visit our LA County Wildfire Recovery Resources site. Here, residents impacted by the multiple wildfires in LA County can find information about recovery centers, view preliminary maps showing damage assessments, access right of entry forms, learn about next steps to take, and find information about recovery events and other resources.

Community Resource Hub/Wildfire Community Recovery Assistance Centers

Previously referred to as Humanitarian/Disaster Resource Village, these hubs are supplemental to the two FEMA Disaster Recovery Centers. The hubs are a chance for Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (VOAD) vetted agencies to be able to offer direct services (i.e. clean-up kits, crisis counseling, emotional & spiritual care, financial assistance, food boxes) to those impacted by the recent wildfires (Eaton, Hurst, Palisades, Sunset).
