Celebrating AAPI Heritage Month

This month, we celebrate and recognize the contributions, impact, and influence that Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPI) have made in every aspect of American life, especially here in LA County.

Please tune in to the Board of Supervisors May 6, 2025 board meeting to learn more about a motion to proclaim the month of May as “Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month” throughout Los Angeles County (County).

Our County has the largest population of AAPI residents of any county in the nation and takes pride in having so many diverse communities represented. As the County strives to improve the lives of its more than 10 million residents, including our AAPI community members, it is important that we continue to examine how to best work to improve life outcomes for all of our residents.

LA County Office of Education AAPI Heritage Month Resource Guide

Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month celebrates the diverse cultures, contributions and achievements of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders in the United States. Observed in May, this month fosters cultural understanding, highlights the rich heritage of these communities and promotes inclusivity in acknowledging their profound impact on American society.

During AAPI Month, educators are invited to attend the Ethnic Studies Symposium Series: Asian American and Pacific Islander Studies at the Chinese American Museum, and teach ethnic studies that specifically highlight the courage, leadership and contributions of the AAPI community. View LACOE’s 2025 Board Resolution.
