Community Input Advisory Board (CIAB)
Introduction
On July 21, 2020, the County of Los Angeles Board of Supervisors unanimously voted to establish an anti-racism initiative in recognition that racism, in all of its dimensions, results in large disparities in family stability, health and wellbeing, education, employment, economic development, public safety, criminal justice, and housing. This historic motion created the Anti-Racism, Diversity, and Inclusion (ARDI) Initiative within the CEO to develop and implement a Countywide Racial Equity Strategic Plan (Strategic Plan) and underlying policy platform that aim to eliminate racism and bias in the County.

Community Input Advisory Board
ARDI created the Community Input Advisory Board (CIAB) to provide consultation, critical thinking, and input on the direction and development of the Strategic Plan and other emerging ARDI priorities. The CIAB launched on August 4, 2021, and convened a group of community leaders with lived and learned expertise across multiple sectors and subject area domains. ARDI now plans to establish a second CIAB cohort that can:
- Offer new insights and innovative solutions to shape ARDI’s work priorities, products, and outcomes;
- Provide additional context, analysis, and recommendations to inform leadership’s decision-making;
- Ensure ARDI’s alignment with concurrent community efforts and recommendations; and
- Liaise and report back to professionally and personally affiliated communities, organizations, alliances, or coalitions to ensure community members stay informed and have opportunities to provide feedback.
