Speaker Series
The Speaker Series derived from the GIA project where GIA participants expressed a need for a forum to candidly discuss challenges and strategies related to recruiting, hiring, and retaining women in non-traditional career fields. On August 24, 2023, WGI hosted our first webinar focusing on hiring and recruitment.
This event was the first of a four-part series where attendees learned about effective strategies to recruit and retain diverse female candidates to traditionally male dominated fields. Our first Speaker Series had blended representation from both County leadership with external partners in the private sector. Our esteemed panel included: Lisa Garrett, Director of Personnel for the County of Los Angeles Department of Human Resources; Sabra Johnson, the Administrative Deputy Director for the Administration and Finance Service County of Los Angeles Internal Services Department; and Lark Jackson, Associate Director for the National Center for Women’s Equity in Apprenticeship and Employment, Chicago Women in Trades.
